Despite the hate Frances Ha gets for being about privileged, ‘insufferable,’ white millennials in New York City, I connected to the story a lot more than I thought I would. A lot of the praise I’ve seen comes from the film’s realistic depiction of about being 27-ish, which I obviously have not experienced in the slightest, but I found the story of Frances and Sophie’s friendship so compelling. Yes, most of the characters annoyed me a little bit at times, but the ways they genuinely cared for each other let me look past that.

I also loved all the beautiful, fun montages with the SPECTACULAR soundtrack!! Frances’ monologue about the kind of love she wants will stay in my head for a long while.
